Forte Names Dave Tarpley Vice President of Japan Sales

Experienced Executive Assumes Responsibility for Driving Further Adoption of Cynthesizer

San Jose, Calif. -- January 9, 2009 -- Dave Tarpley today assumed the role of vice president of Japan sales for Forte Design Systems, a leading provider of High-Level Synthesis software, reporting to Brett Cline, Forte's vice president of marketing and sales.

Working from Forte's corporate headquarters in San Jose, Calif., Tarpley will be responsible for driving further adoption of Cynthesizer, Forte's high-level synthesis software, already in use by many leading-edge systems companies in Japan.

Tarpley brings more than 35 years of management and sales experience to the position, holding senior executive and sales management positions for various companies within the electronics and electronic design automation (EDA) industry. While serving as vice president of Asian business for Cadence Design Systems Inc. from 1986-1994, Tarpley initiated its business in Asia, growing it to more than $150 million per year.

"High-level synthesis has become a mainstream application," says Cline. "With Dave's record of success as a measure, we fully expect to expand Forte's reach and bring high-level synthesis to a wider array of design teams throughout Japan and the world."

Most recently, Tarpley was vice president of sales for NanoNexus Inc. and president and chief operating officer of ZMOS Technology Inc. He held the role of vice president of sales at PDF Solutions Inc. from 1996-2004, where, as one of the first 10 employees, he helped initiate its successful and sustainable business model. Prior to PDF, he was vice president of Asian sales position for Anagram, which was acquired by Avant!, now part of Synopsys Inc. Before Anagram, Tarpley worked as vice president of sales for High Level Design, later acquired by Cadence.

Tarpley holds a Master of Business Administration degree from California State University at Fullerton and a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from the University of California at Berkeley.
